SASS estamos en todos lados. SASS is everywhere.

The first SASS grom session is coming together for 2008. Up and coming mini rippers such as Kyle Mack, Jacob Aaronsen, Shayna Aaronsen, Jack Herald are coming down to Argentina, stepping it up to learn some new tricks into pow, get strong for the contest season and get some footage and photos. Keeping in mind these kids are 10-12 years old and already working on 7’s & 9’s I personally cant wait to see the progression.

Hunting Yeti with Eric Pollard, Pep Fujas and Crew

Pep Fujas continues with his Hunting Yeti project…this such is a cool new way to look at allowing the public into the life of chasing snow 24/7. For free. Eric Pollard is leading the crew for the follow up to IDEA with Nimbus Entertainment, Poor Boyz Production, and K2 skis. SASS is strongly supporting this new film initiative and those companies and skiers involved.

Pep will be back at SASS for another year to crush lomito completos, brush up on his Spanish and slay anything and everything that is in front of him on his skis.

SASS Invades the 2008 Vans Cup

vans-cup.jpg

Chris Coulter came out of slopestyle contest retirement to make a presence at the Vans Cup in a big way this year. I was able to check it out in person as he stepped to the slopestyle course at Northstar on a colder and windy day and threw down with the best of them. With the most insane (and effective) stretching techniques known to man, Coulter gets after it, with everything he does. He is headed down for a full week at Silverton Mountain in SW Colorado to slay some lines with Skylar Holgate. SASS is excited to welcome back Chris for another year.

Bobby Witty
The latest addition to Team SASS is Bobby Witty. We have known Bobby for the past 8 years and have watched him grow up riding with Scott Harris, Ryan and the Squaw Team and get better and better at snowboarding. After having qualified and made the cut of 16 for finals at this years Van’s cup, Bobby has proven he has what it takes to compete against the worlds best. With a cab 270 on to switch out on the 1st monster box features, a switch bs 5, nasty front 7’s tail and a perfect back 9 landed on his toes, Bobby stepped to the plate and delivered.

We are very excited to be having Bobby down for a month of training this year in Argentina, to work on all of his 9’s & 10’s and maybe add a few 12’s…get tons of footage and photos before heading to New Zealand for the OPEN. Hell yeah Bobby way to get after it. Brian Sullivan and Seb Latapie from SASS made the trip out to Tahoe to ride park, pow and trees for a week and chekc out the action.

It has been a busy season in the world of SASS.

The SASS & EESA New England School Tour has not slowed down one bit with the latest stop happening at Vermont Academy bringing the total stops up to 14 for the year. A huge thanks goes out to Jamal Reid and the all VA crew for welcoming us onto the campus. We even got a short shred on their private park behind the school. So cool. Past SASS family members Nick Woytuck, Josh Eichen (currently holding court in Burlington)and the legendary Steve Denmark all came out of Vermont Academy.

For some reason every time we visit a school to do a SASS presentation it dumps snow. Vermont Academy was no exception. If you want SASS to visit your school show some videos, give out free stuff and make it snow hit us up!!!! info@sasnowsessions.com

The SASS family (coaches, campers and pros) have been killing it everywhere this season. Time to give out some props as the hard work put in by the people below is paying off. Each month we will add to the list and recognize all the people who help make South America Snow Sessions the best camp on the planet.

  • Head SASS Freeride Coach James Heim has been everywhere lately. He landed a cover of Powder Magazine and a 2 page check out called “The Bionic Man” in yet another Powder. Heim’s segment in MSP’s latest movie 7 Sunny Days is so sick, you have to see it. In addition he is also designing his own ski for Head, which is sure to be a Backcountry Freeride weapon. James is one of the nicest guys and best coaches I know. Come ski with him this summer at SASS.

  • SASS Snowboard Coaches Andrew Burns and Robin Van Gyn were featured in a 3 page story by Ed Herbold about Argentina and South America Snow Sessions in the latest Snowboard Canada. We love Canadians…and ED of course. Check it out:

SASS Team Member Sean Ryan

has been having a sick season competing all over the East Coast. Sean stepped up to compete at the Aspen Open last week. He took down 19th in Slopestyle out of a stacked field of 160 pros from all over the world. We predict a bright snowboarding future for Mr. Ryan. Keep your eyes on this kid.

SASS lead guide Skylar Holgate

was featured in the last Transworld Snowboarding during a checkout of his home mountain Silverton. You can’t tell from the picture but Skylar is doing an enormous BS180 off of the roof of the mining building. IN addition Skylar added Vans and DaKine to his longtime sponsor Venture Snowboards. Anyone that knows Skylar, knows how hard he kills it on all terrain. Yeah Skylar!!

Ally Carroll

has been non-stop this season. From competitions all over to photo shoots & filming to just having fun on her snowboard, Ally is killing it. Highlights include taking 3rd in Halfpipe at the Park City stop of the Revolution Tour. Ally spent the whole summer with us at SASS where she slayed powder, ripped tree lines, showed up on ESPN Latin America, trained on backcountry jumps with powder landings and owned the Cerro Catedral terrain park. Keep your eyes on Ally Carroll, she is going to the top with a smile on her face and having fun the whole time.
